Nick had gone to Florence, Italy during his junior year at college and spent the entirety of both semesters traveling all over Europe and even to places like Morocco and China.  Nick saw the sights, boarded the planes & trains, and indulged in the nightlife.  Nothing Nick did or said was quote-worthy or special.  He wasn’t anyone’s best friend or an overly deep fellow.  He. Just. Was.

When Nick returned after his year abroad, he posted a photo album on Facebook.  The album’s cover had a picture of the entire city of Florence.  The album was filled with pictures of all the people who Nick had shared reminiscinable experiences with.  The album was title “The Piece You Leave Behind.”

The Piece You Leave Behind can apply to anyone.  It only takes a single smile or listening ear at the right moment to have a lasting impact on someone else’s life.  You don’t have to go to Florence, like Nick.  Honestly, you may never know the impact that you have on someone else.  You may never know that the piece of you that you shared with them changed the course of their life forever.
