Daily Priority #1 - Physical Health
Exercise: I continued with my fitness epic today as I struggled mightily to get out of bed. I had arrived from the all day drive last night very late and when it came time to wake up at a reasonably early time, I could hardly arise from my sleep. I put on my shorts and running shoes and noticed that it wasn't so much my leg muscles that were all that sore, but rather it was my lower back from picking weeds in recent weeks and driving all day yesterday. I like being a morning person and after I did a warm up routine of 25 jumping jacks and some stretching I took off running in Grand Junction, CO. I ran from the airport where I had returned the rental car back into the city and towards home. On the way, I struggled to find an appropriate tree branch for doing pull ups since I knew that today I was not going to have the luxury of a play structure at a local park since I would not be running by any. I also was unable to run on the asphalt of the road as much as I would have liked due to the amount of cars driving on the busy streets that I was running on. Finally in the last bit of my run I was able to duck off the main street and find a tree that had a branch that was usable for me to do 5 & 1/8 pull ups, and 5 & 1/3 chin ups before arriving back at home. At the end of the route, I was able to again pass the one mile challenge (3.5 miles, Odometer = --.- miles). It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, physically.
Fitness: Back at my home, I stretched for a few minutes and I continued my routine. I did 3 sets of 18 dumbbell rows (9 each arm, 54 total) using a guitar in a case as weight, stretch. I also did 3 sets of 9 push-ups (27 total). I continue to enjoy my commitment to not using gym machines because I don't need a gym.
