Month 2, Day 49

Daily Priority #1 - Physical Health

Today I woke up at a time in the early morning that I had hoped after a sleep that was a bit too short because I robbed it of a couple precious hours by staying up too late.  Although I was ready to get out of bed, I didn’t.  It was so warm and cozy there that I laid there for an hour too long, thus compromising my early morning wake up I had intended.  When I did arise from my cocoon of warm, I noted that even being a morning person doesn’t get me out of bed. I quickly put on my running shoes (my stimulus), arm warmers, and running shorts and knit gloves.  I did a warm up routine of 35 jumping jacks and a bit of stretching.  I opened the door to the outside, Spokane world and found…. snow.  About an inch of snow lay on the ground and was falling.  I began to run through the outskirts of Spokane in the early morning and struggled to keep my eyes open as the snow landed on my face.  I found a pine tree branch that would function as a pull up bar and I did 3 1/4 pull ups and 2 1/2 chin ups.  I also did 2 sets of 12 push-ups (24 total).  At the end of my route, I arrived back at house I was staying at again passing the one mile challenge (1.5 miles, Odometer = 96.4 miles). It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, physically.  An interesting development is that I don't think I am necessarily losing weight, but I was looking in the mirror before my shower and I am noticable gaining muscle tone.  This miracle of consistent working out seems to be working... slowly.

Back at the room, I stretched for 2 minutes and continued my routine.  I did 2 sets of 24 dumbbell rows (12 each arm, 48 total) using a full backpack as weight, stretch.

Daily Priority #2 - Spiritual Health

I read the Faith ND daily passage out loud to myself.

I set my alarm for 4 minutes of walking mediation and 4 minutes of sitting meditation as I continued my meditation practice.  I used my stress eraser. During the 4 minutes of walking meditation (two, 8 foot sections) the sensor did not track well and I scored 3 points.  Next, I did 4 minutes of sitting meditation.  At the end of the 4 minutes, the stress eraser on read a total of 8 points, 5 more for sitting (Point Count = 253).  It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, spiritually.

Daily Priority #3 - Intellectual Health

I continued writing a chapter entitled "the Russian visa debacle" (words written 71, Word Count = 2286).  It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, as a writer.

Reward

Reward time = breakfast of oatmeal.
