Daily Priority #1 - Physical Health
Today I woke up way before my alarm during a more than adequate sleep. But I again was seduced by the warm and cozy bed and ended up going back to sleep for another hour. It was a good thing it is Thanksgiving break. When I did arise from my cocoon of warm, I noticed that being a morning person had me ready to roll and roll. I did a morning meditation then writing then, eventually put on my running shoes (my stimulus), arm warmers, and running shorts, knit gloves, ear warmers, and yaktraxs. I did a warm up routine of 35 jumping jacks and a bit of stretching before going out into the wintery day in Missoula, Montana. I ran in the outskirts of Missoula on the snowy roads. The sun was shining which helped against the wind but at times when the wind was blowing in the shade, the 20 degree day was a bit cold. The rest of the time it was just good to be out! At the end of my route, I arrived back at house I was staying at again passing the one mile challenge (3.2 miles, Odometer = 99.6 miles). It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, physically.
Back at the apartment, I stretched for 2 minutes and continued my routine. Yesterday was an upper body day so today was a lower body day. I did 3 “sets” of each movement. 3 sets of 8 squats (24 total), then stretch. 3 sets of 16 lunges (8 each leg, 48 total), then stretch. 3 sets of 20 “breaths” of planking, stretch.
Daily Priority #2 - Spiritual Health
I read the Faith ND daily passage out loud to myself.
I set my alarm for 4 minutes of walking mediation and 4 minutes of sitting meditation as I continued my meditation practice. I used my stress eraser. During the 4 minutes of walking meditation (two, 8 foot sections) the sensor tracked ok and I scored 4 points. My balance was good except on time I was distracted by talking and swayed to the left. I held the thought "gratitude transforms us beyond the pinnacle of secular life -- human flourishing" in the front of my mind as I did 4 minutes of sitting meditation. At the end of the 4 minutes, the stress eraser on read a total of 11 points, 7 more for sitting (Point Count = 264). It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, spiritually.
Daily Priority #3 - Intellectual Health
I continued writing a chapter entitled "the Russian visa debacle" (words written 404, Word Count = 2690). It amazes me how far I have come from where I started, as a writer. Today it flowed easily and naturally because I wrote in the morning.
Reward time = breakfast of oatmeal.
